June 1, 2009

This month our family mourns the loss of Gerald David Goodson. Born in 1938, Gerald was the oldest son of Guy and Alene Goodson and the second born of the nine children. Gerald passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009. We will all miss him. Please keep in touch with Wanda, Garrett, and Delora during this time of their bereavement. If you have a special memory or story you would like to share about Gerald, please send it to me for next month's blog.

Other Family News:

Last month I published the May family blog just a few hours too soon to get breaking news from David Huss. David tells us that for the last two or three years, he and Phillip have been working together at the Quail Hollow / Wachovia Championship. They measure the distance the ball is from the hole on #3 green. They have lots of laughs and make smart comments about all of the players and their funky clothes plus there's always patrons to watch – drunks mostly. Phillip was planning to try wearing the black pants with the pink piping and aqua shirt buttoned to the top to work one day. David says he didn't know Phillip was such a fashioinista.

Tammy Goodson Dickerson and family just got back from a great time at the beach.

Chris Goodson received his master's degree in Instructional Technology from Appalachian State University.

Carson Watts played several songs at her piano recital including a duet with Elizabeth Snyder. The next day, Carson and her sister, Maggie danced in their recital.

Bill Harris was in the hospital recently. He was able to go home Monday. Here's Bill holding Lily the day before he went to the hospital. Bill pointed out that he was our oldest family member and Lily is the youngest.

Joyce Dean's Vickers husband, Vic, is in the hospital again with complications from his recent cancer surgery.

Megan Harris had her dance recital last month.

Megan shows off a ballet move.

Leslie Goodson Bailey and family have been busy. Noah played in his last soccer game and received a trophy! Emma had her dance recital. The whole family also spent a weekend in the mountains. Rumor has that Leslie even had time to make a homemade cherry cobbler from cherries off her own tree. Noah Bailey playing in his last soccer game and with his trophy.

The Bailey's enjoy a weekend in the mountains.

Roger Goodson is retiring on Friday (June 5). He is counting down the days and can't wait to start fishing. He has his boat ready for retirement. He is only planning on fishing days with a "y" in them. Uhhhh isn't that everyday?
