March 2010 Blog

Well, it's snowing again. I don't know about the rest of the family but I am really tired of winter and yearning for spring.

Last month I posted this photo of Wayne after I mailed out the blog update notice so I just had to start out with it in case some of you missed it. Erika titled this one "Winter is Too Long"

Wayne and Erika just returned from another Disney Cruise. Looks like they had a wonderful time.

Arrrr....

Castaway Cay, Bahamas Disney Island. Erika says she would like to live there.

Erika says it was cold in Nassau. As you can see she is wearing a sweater.

From Tammy Dickerson Family -
Hi-we had a busy month in February. Jacob played basketball for his school. They had a great season! They only lost one game in the regular season, and his school placed second and third in their tournament. (they had two teams, Jacob played on the team that came in second.)Unfortunately, Garin and I missed Jacob's best game- I was sick and Garin had to work on the day that Jacob scored 10 points! We celebrated my birthday a day late by seeing Jimmy Buffet in Columbia SC on Feb 23. Garin's mom and sister joined us. It was my 10th and Garin's 8th Buffett concert- we always have SO much fun! Just like everyone else in the country, we enjoyed our snow day! Fortunately, we only had one in SC!

Jacob playing basketball, me and my mother in law at Buffett concert!

Tammy's House in the snow is Florence, SC.

From Leslie Bailey Family -
Happy birthday to mom and Tammy! Their birthdays were at the end of February. Leslie won tickets to the circus at school and took the kids. Emma and Noah said it was the best one they have ever been to. Leslie agrees. Leslie just returned from a the NCACA (North Carolina Augmentative Communication Association) conference in Raleigh. She is the conference co-chair and very proud to say it went very well. She is also glad that it is over. Ethan got a promotion at work this month. He is now the Senior Director of IT at MarketLinx. We are very proud of him! Noah is asking if everyone can add Hope Klett to their prayers each night. She is his teacher's 2 year old daughter and she was diagnosed with leukemia 2 weeks ago. She has been at Baptist Hospital since her diagnosis and should be released on March 8th. Noah misses his teacher, but loves the substitute. We are hoping for consistency as the school, teacher, and substitute work out the schedule with his teacher's absence.

From the Brad Huss Family-
The Huss family is doing well staying on the go all the time. We took a trip to Atlanta to see Tennessee Volunteers play Virginia tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Jill ended up in the bed sick while Brad, Mia and Ana enjoyed all the fun. Ana did stay with Jill in the hotel room instead of going to the game that night.......Cold and 1.5 mile walk, good idea! The softball season is in full swing. Mia has her first tournament Saturday March 6th in Concord. This season she is the lead pitcher! Go Mia!!! Ana and Mia both will be playing optimist softball for Boger City. We recently bought two 4-wheelers and have been going to Carolina Adventure World in Columbia, SC to ride......FUN FUN FUN! This is a first time experience for Jill riding, so far so good. Brad has been keeping busy, busy, busy. Despite the make-up days at school and being so cold the snow has been good for business.

From Delora Goodson -

Joseph had a 14th birthday party on the 14th. We invited all his friends over for backyard football and basketball. He just finished playing basketball for the middle school and will be finishing Optimist basketball this weekend. He made the middle school baseball team. He was supposed to have his first game March 3rd. He is playing third base and he is starting. He has made the A/B honor roll every nine weeks and looks like he is going to do it again according to his progress report.

From the David Huss Family
Soccer, soccer, soccer! We are knee deep in soccer each weekend. Parker broke his arm playing pickup soccer with some friends when he was supposed to be watching Mason play. Now he is playing with a cast and bubble wrap for a few weeks. Don’t worry though, it has not hindered his ability to text at a lightning speed. Parker’s team is off to a good start. Two wins. That is two more than they had last fall. Mason has a girlfriend – we like her because she is an incredible golfer. Vonda has been working a lot. Yippee, someone is making money in the family right now. Real estate seems to be picking up a little bit with the tax incentives and new year. Now if spring would just hurry up and get here. Phyllis, NC, Joyce Dean and Vic spent the weekend at the beach. Not the best time of year, but I think they had fun.
From Krista Phillips Family -
The only news we have is my induction into the National Honor Society of Nurses that will take place March 20. Otherwise just an ordinary month.
From the Roger Goodson Family-
February may be a short month on the calendar but it was a long month for our family. Roger is feeling much better now. His blood pressure is back to normal thanks to finding the right medication balance. Becky has been busy with work, teaching and volunteer work. She just finished directing the Price is Right for the Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse. They raised over $14,000. Everyone needs to go next year. It's lots of fun and you may win a showcase! Becky, Chris and I also serve on the Lincoln Theatre Guild Board. Our next show is "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". Shows are March 12, 13 and 14 at the Lincoln Cultural Center and March 19, 20 and 21 at North Lincoln High School. Tickets are available at the door or online from Carolina Tix.
Lily continues to grow and learn. One of her favorite words is Popaw. I keep her 4 days a week. We spend time at her house and ours. Stop by and see us one day.

Be sure to send me your family news and/or photos for next month's blog.
Love,
Kathy
