December Family Blog

December Blog
Mike and Gail sent us this photo of their family on the beach at Thanksgiving. Great to see them looking so good.

Leslie Bailey shares that they had lunch with Emma and Noah (the pilgrim and Native American) at school on Tuesday. Noah starts basketball on the 30th. We are very proud of Emma and Noah for saving their money. They saved enough money to buy themselves a Wii...now Santa just has to bring somegames. Leslie also shares that she went on girls weekend to the mountains with 5 other mom's at thebeginning of the month. She says it was nice to get away and relax, hike, and shop at the outlets. The following weekend Ethan went away on business to a convention in California. His booth was right next to HGTV's booth. Even though he was right across from Sabrina Soto (Real Estate Intervention), he didn't get a picture.

Bernice shares that she and Bill were busy at Thanksgiving getting ready for their family. They had a great time, especially the children. They ran and played until the meal was ready. They had a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Bernice says that "God has been good to us this year and we all had much to be thankful for. " After they ate they played games. They went to Leslie and Todd Black's house on Thursday evening. There was enough good food to feed an army.
Bernice says they are still trying to get window treatments up in the house. She has about gotten every thing else in place. You can actually walk through the rooms now and the other house is empty except for yard sale things and we will have a yard sale soon. They still want everybody to come by for a visit soon.

Lily celebrated her 1st birthday on November 21st.
Lily and her Monkey Cake...oh and Daddy.

Family Christmas Party
December 6
Alexis Baptist Church Family Life Center
1:00

Bring a covered dish. Email or call Dori or Delora and let them know what you are bringing.

From the past -
This is a photo of Gerald teaching Phyllis how to dance. The date on the photo is July 1958.

Judy and Phyllis remember Gerald talking on the phone to Wanda by pulling it into the living room and closing the door. So they would stand outside by the window to listen to the conversation. Once Gerald caught them and called them "Childish". This was funny to Phyllis and Judy since Wanda was their age!

Family News:

Judy sends a Happy Birthday to Roger on Oct. 17th and Karen on Oct. 27th.

She also wants everyone to know that St. Luke's Lutheran Church will have their Fall Craft Bazaar on Saturday, November 7th at 8:00-2:00. Besides handmade crafts they will be selling soup and sandwich. The craft Bazaar will be held in the new family life center.

From Bernice

Bill and I are officially in our new home. We have grass (and mud) and an out building to go with it. It is nice not to have to go down stairs to wash, iron or get things out of the freezer. When we were young it was no problem but age does things to you. We don't even have leaves to rake.
A lot of people from Macedonia came and helped us move. Michael Lippard brought a box truck. They made one load and that was it, but I am not getting it unpacked as fast. Biggest problem is 41 of years of stuff just does not fit in this smaller house, so come to the yard sale. Thanks to family members who helped and thanks in advance to those who will help hang pictures and get some pieces of furniture, a few accessories, and window treatments we need.

God has been good to us and worked out things for us. All that is left is to sale our other house. Pass the word if you know of any one in the market for a house.

It is beautiful here at this time of year. We can look out and see Bill Richard's horses in the pasture and the leaves turn. We can see Little Mountain. I feel like I've come home. Enough of that!

Bill is still having a lot of back pain and we are going to Hickory twice a week for therapy.

COME TO SEE US!
Our new address is 3940 Goodson Road, Maiden, N. C. 28650 and Phone 828 428 9739.

From Dale

October 09 Family Blog

From Leslie Bailey - Leslie and family have had a busy month. They went to the mountains over Labor Day weekend. They went to Tweetsie while they were there. The kids rode the big kid rides this time and loved them!

Noah is playing soccer again and loves it. This is a picture from his game of the season. He is number 12 on the Rams (notice the Carolina blue jerseys?)

They ended the month with a trip to Pine Know Shores for one of Leslie's co-worker's wedding. They made the most of their our weekend and went to the aquarium and Fort Macon before Emma and Noah attended their first wedding.

From Tammy Dickerson -
September was busy for the Dickerson family. They spent Labor Day weekend with Garin's family at Cherry Grove. Shortly after They had another family get together when Garin's grandmother passed away. Paulie Ruble, the last of Jacob's great grandparents, passed away on September 15th. She was 91. She had been sick for awhile, but they remember the beautiful woman with a contagious laugh and a tremendous love of her family.
Jacob turned 11 on September 15th as well. They celebrated a week later with a pizza party and sleepover. Jacob is playing soccer at the Y and his team is doing well. He love playing goalie, but plays well on offense also!

To relax at the end of this busy month, Tammy went to Wilmington for the weekend to visit with some friends from college. The four "girls" had a great time catching up, shopping and doing a lot of giggling, just like the good ole days!

Wayne Goodson has a new dog, Oscar.

David Huss - Progress reports came and both boys have done well. Parker's club soccer team is doing okay, but it wll be a difficult season inthe top division. New Weekend a friend has access to a box truck and they will be moving the big stuff. If any one wants to help let Bernice know. They need packers, someone to put up stuff and some strong backs. Oh and maybe a supervisor.
Other news from Bernice -- Bill is taking some Aqua Therapy which seems to be helping with his pain. They hope!

September 09 Goodson Family Blog

August was a busy time for all the Goodson family. Many families were on vacation, having fun in the sun and getting ready for school to begin.

But first here are some photos from the past from Bernice.

Guess who these cute babies are? (answers at the bottom)

That's right, the baby is in the bicycle basket!

Recently I asked folks for memories of Gerald. Judy sent this one along with a photo of Gerald.
Phyllis and I share this memory about Gerald. When Wanda and Gerald were dating he talked on the telephone to her every day. Gerald always carried the telephone into the living room to talk so he would have some privacy. Little did he know, Phyllis and I heard him as we listened outside the open window. One day he caught us. Boy, was he mad. He told us we were inmature kids, along with some other choice advice about how to behave. Later in years we always laughed about it. After all, Wanda was our age!

Family News -

David Huss shares that Mason made the JV soccer team at Ardrey Kell High School and will be moving to defender this year. Vonda continues to travel quite a bit – Tampa, Atlanta, San Francisco all on the docket for this month. Parker is enjoying the new experiences of middle school. David says he is not a biker, but he did a 65 mile bike event last week. Actually rode 74 after he missed a turn. Yes, David says his butt was sore for a few days. He also met Michael Goodson. No, not uncle Mike, the Carolina Panther. David says he has a special gift for Uncle Mike when he sees him again.

Phyllis sends word that Mason has his driver permit. She took him to Lincolnton (when he was here working for Brad in June). Great experience for her. Parker spent two nights with NC and Phyllis last week. Anna and Mia are very happy with their teachers this year. Mia is "Beamer" for the elementry school. N.C.'s garden here and in the country has provided wonderful tomatoes, beans, corn, cucumbers, watermellons and cantelopes to the family and neighbors. She is sad to say they are all gone now.

The Dale and Pam Harris family have been busy with sports lately. Dylan is playing baseball on the 3Up 3Down Rebels team. He played left field in both games Saturday and had three hits and one RBI.

Megan is on the North Lincoln Varsity Cheeringleading Team. She had her first game on August 22. Megan is a flyer on the team.
